When Doug Shafer first ran for county commissioner in 2002, his goal was, and still is, to maintain and enhance the quality of life in La Vergne and Rutherford County. His desire is for not only he and his wife, but also his children and grandchildren, to call Rutherford County home and be happy and proud to live here.
He has a strong value system and faith in God. First and foremost, he believes in honesty and truth. Integrity is a value that can’t be compromised. Shafer interacts and works with many people in Rutherford County but is indebted to no one except the citizens that he represents. Further, he does not make promises for which he has no control.

I appreciate all that voted in the August 5, 2010 Rutherford County General Election, the Tennessee Primary, and the U.S. Primary. A big thank you to those who supported me. I will strive to fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my abilities and am honored to serve the first disctrict of Rutherford County.
